The Mill Creek Memorial Park Association is a non-profit 501c 13 corporation controlled by lot owners. The lot owners elect a non-paid Board of Trustees responsible for overseeing the operation of the nonsectarian Forest Lawn Memorial Park cemetery located in Mahoning County in Boardman, Ohio. The goals of the Trustees are to preserve and maintain the beautiful, park-like grounds and buildings and to serve its lot owners.

We are “dedicated to memorializing all that sleep within” as stated in the carved stone on the Market Street entrance “Where the memory of beautiful lives will be kept beautiful – always.” The Forest Lawn Cemetery serves as a permanent and perpetual place to honor lives lived, a focal point and tribute to the individuals and families of Boardman and surrounding communities. The cemetery provides an accepted venue for openly expressing our sadness, feelings, pain and loss. Likewise it is a place to reconcile grief and to begin the transition from life before to the life after death. It serves as a place to record a life lived for future generations and to provide a direct link to ancestry. The Memorial Park setting provides a serene setting of beautiful lawns, tree lined curbed roadways and classical buildings; it's a get-away, a place to honor, to mourn and to remember.

Founded in 1917, Forest Park is one of Louisiana's premiere cemeteries, with more than 35,000 residents amongst its 134 acres.

C.W. Hughes and Stephen W. Griffith, from Marshalltown, Iowa, were the founders of Forest Park Cemetery - East; however, the property was insolvent during the Great Depression. Recognizing the need for a cemetery of substantial size to serve the city's booming population, the Rasberry family, a local Shreveport family, purchased the cemetery. Their vision was to create surroundings that balanced nature with the environment, allowing a presence of civilization without disturbing the grandeur of the romantic setting.

From the first burial of 14-year-old Frederick Lanier Boanno in 1919, Forest Park was designed to serve both the dead and the living. It is the burial site of nine Shreveport mayors, Representative T. Overton Brooks, Senator Rose McConnell Long, General Gabrielle P. Disosway, pioneer oilman William Douglas, international sculptor Arthur C. Morgan, writer John William Corrington, architect N.S. Allen, and Lt. Commander Edward H. Railsback, the most decorated soldier in the history of Louisiana

Interesting and appropriate sculpture was added to the natural setting, including: a lifelike bronze statue of Lt. R.E. Smitherman, who perished in World War II; the Rev. M.E. Dodd's granite memorial, shaped like the pulpit at First Baptist Church; Paul Simmons' forest scene incised in stone; a simple stone monument commemorating the life of Sinclair Kouns, one of the original founders of Shreveport; and, the American flag that is flown in the War Veterans Section in remembrance of all those who died serving our country. Forest Park is filled with the rich history of the City of Shreveport and its surrounding area. The cemetery is dedicated to serving families in the best possible manner with dignity, compassion and understanding.

From a few acres in the early 1800's, the Moore family founded and built on a promise to create a place to be remembered for their family. Today, the Emily Moore Memorial Garden is beautifully located in the center of the cemetery. Purchased in 1958 by the Raspberry Family, the cemetery was formed as a sister to Forest Park Cemetery on St. Vincent Avenue under the name Forest Park West Cemetery. The newly named cemetery provided its first burial on December 3, 1958.

Spanning 132 acres, the cemetery, which is located at the intersection of 70th Street and Meriwether Road, is considered one of the largest family-owned and operated cemeteries in the area. Although it is purposely secluded, the park is only minutes away from any point in the Greater Shreveport Area and offers a full range of cemetery services to meet the memorialization needs of our families.

Everyday the staff at Forest Park West Cemetery strives to be supportive, conduct business compassionately, and respect the significance of every life lived. As every life is unique, no other park offers the array of choices available to our families. In keeping with the needs of an ever-changing community, in addition to traditional ground burials, we offer a quiet and peaceful mausoleum, cremation options, or private burial estates.

Forest Park West Cemetery is a perpetual record of yesterday - a history of people. It is a sanctuary of today, paying tribute to the life, not the death, of a loved one. It is a place that will always bring peace of mind for tomorrow. Today, Forest Park West Cemetery continues to build on the promise to create for our families a place to be remembered.

The cemetery is dedicated to serving families in the best possible manner with dignity, compassion and understanding.
