Mt. View Cemetery

Provider Type
Cemetery

Mountain View Cemetery is owned and operated by Reno Lodge #14 I.O.O.F. of Reno, Nevada. Instituted in 1871, Mountain View is a non-profit, non-sectarian, fraternal cemetery for individuals of all faiths. The Cemetery currently consists of about 160 acres, with over 50 acres presently developed in lawn. Since the 140 years since its inception, nearly 100,000 individuals have been inurned, entombed and interred, making Mountain View the guardian of those who helped establish the Truckee Meadows, hence becoming a legacy in Reno history. In 1955-1956 the Trustees not only established the first crematory in Nevada, but also the first Columbariums for cremated remains were established as well. Additionally, in the years following the building of the Mausoleum, three more phases have been completed, making it one of the largest in the region. Whether you are seeking entombment, burial or interment, each Corridor or Garden of the Cemetery has its own individual character, lending to the dignity and solace of your services, making them a truly personal celebration of life. Since it is always better judgment to make arrangements in advance of an emergency, Mountain View has for years encouraged these pre-determining decisions by providing long term purchase plans for all types of arrangements. Our caring and knowledgeable Administrative Staff have over sixty years of combined experience, making it both easy to assist you through the necessary procedures, as well as to put you at ease in your time of need.
